What a Fun Way to End the Year!
I couldn’t think of any better way to have spent my New Year’s Eve other than out thrifting with my hunk and our LuLu! We were thrifting locally in Decatur, and after a quick breakfast, we were on our way. We were hoping the neatniks had cleaned out their closets and tidied their houses after Christmas in preparation for the New Year. Let the thrifting begin!
First, we ventured to the Downtown Rescue Mission. When we got there, the sign on the door said they were having a 30% off sale. Yippee! And I was equipped with a $5 off coupon for being a loyal customer. Oh yeah!
Our assumption was correct. Well, at least for Christmas items. They were being stocked as we shopped. I found an awesome “Noel” stocking hanger for $2.80 and a wreath base for $1.04! I also picked up some Christmas light clips for my hunk for $1.04 as well. He loves lighting our house up like Clark Griswald for Christmas, so they will definitely come in handy.
These nifty black iron sconces were only $4.20 for the pair! I was so excited to find them. We have a collection of them on the living room wall. They will look perfect alongside their new family.
I also found a great boho style comforter for $7.00. I put it in the wash before I took a pic. However,
we plan to decorate our front porch in boho soon, so I am sure you will see a pic come Spring!
One and Done and on to the Next One!
After running a few other errands, we were on to America’s Thrift Store. This time we had a 10% off coupon in hand that we received for donating some items a few weeks back. After browsing around the outskirts of the store, and finding nada, we started to work our way to the aisles. Somewhere along the line, we found these two nifty Dart Industries wall plaques for 0.99 cents each. I think I am going to paint them a chalky pastel color and put them in my living room.
Hats, Hats, and More Hats!
Then LuLu found it! The Holy Grail! The coup de grace! The hat of my Hollywood dreams! A beautiful vintage hat with a rhinestone clip. It was just awesome! So, of course, I had to try it on. Then, I thought…if there is one, there may be more. And there were! A glorious multitude! So, I picked two more felt hats that were my favorites of the lot and left the rest for my fellow treasure hunters.
After finding those treasures, we had fulfilled our fix for the day. We took the loot and ran, laughing all the way! Ridiculous vintage hats and all…
Smooches! See ya next time!
